From Jinan with Purpose: A Week of Collaboration at Shandong University
The Faculty of Medicine, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (MDKMITL) recently completed a meaningful academic visit to Shandong University, Jinan Province, China, home to the esteemed Cheeloo College of Medicine and the School of Basic Medical Sciences. On his final international mission, Dean Prof. Anan Srikiatkhachorn, M.D., led the MDKMITL delegation including Dr. Anawat Sermswan and Dr. Sranya Phaisawang, Associate Deans of MDKMITL, for a wonderful experience of collaboration in China.
Our visit from November 5–8, 2025, marked an important milestone in strengthening MDKMITL’s global partnerships in academic exchange, medical education, and collaborative research. The delegation was honored to be welcomed by distinguished members of the Shandong University academic leadership, including:
• Mr. Chen Xin, Secretary, Working Committee, Cheeloo College of Medicine
• Mr. Ma Hongfeng, Secretary, Party Committee, School of Basic Medicine
• Mr. Liu Mingli, Director, International Cooperation Office
• Mr. Liu Shangming, Vice Dean, School of Basic Medicine
• Mr. Jiang Kun, Deputy Secretary, Party Committee
• Prof. Li Wenfei, Deputy Director, Center for Medical Structural Biology
• Dr. Zheng Yi, School of Basic Medical Sciences
• Mr. Tang Yuchun, Deputy Director, International Office for Scientific Research
• MS. Wang Xi and MS. Lian Yuling, International Affairs Staff
From the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, to the academic symposium, campus facility inspections, and city cultural exchange, this visit allowed both institutions to reaffirm a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in international medical education.
For MDKMITL, the visit also served as a reflective moment, celebrating 9 years of strategic partnership building and setting the stage for a more integrated role in the regional and global academic landscape. We were extremely proud to see one of our own young staff, Chanchanida Sirilertmekasakul. M.D., presenting her work on the “Development of a Multimodal AI-Assistaded Framework for the Thai Version of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-T) at the 2025 International Symposium for Young Scholars in Basic Medical Sciences.
More collaborative developments are on the horizon. To our faculty and research leaders: let this serve as inspiration to engage more deeply with our growing network of international partners. The best is yet to come.
