Day 1 of Onsite Premed Camp 2024
On June 25, 2024, we started our official onsite MDKMITL PreMed Camp 2024. This camp aims to provide first-year medical students with crucial skills in an informal setting, aiding their adjustment to the new environment before the academic year starts. It also serves as a great opportunity for students to become acquainted with their peers.
The onsite PreMed Camp event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Sranya Phaisawang, Associate Dean at MDKMITL, and Asst. Prof. Fingani A. Mphande-Nyasulu, Ph.D. They welcomed the new students and discussed the MDKMITL DNA+ Student Code of Conduct, highlighting the importance of professionalism, ethics, and manners within the MDKMITL family to foster a supportive and respectful community.
We also hosted an informative session on life at KMITL, led by Year 4 students Pirimook, President of MDKMITL SMO, and Sirin, Vice President for External Affairs, MDKMITL SMO. They shared insights into campus life, personal experiences, and practical tips for navigating university. This session aimed to build strong bonds between senior and junior students, fostering mentorship and a sense of community within the MDKMITL family.
The MDKMITL program is dedicated to developing a new generation of international medical students. Our aim is not only to educate doctors but also to nurture well-rounded professionals. We emphasize building strong professional and research skills, along with key 21st-century abilities such as communication and collaboration. This holistic approach equips students to become globally-minded doctors, ready to serve their communities effectively. The dedication and skills they gain here ensure they will make significant contributions to the healthcare field.
Day 2 of Onsite Premed Camp 2024
June 26, 2024, marked the second day of our official onsite MDKMITL PreMed Camp 2024. We began with an engaging icebreaker game to help our new medical students get to know each other better. It was a fun and lively start to the day.
Following that, Dr. Sranya Phaisawang, Associate Dean at MDKMITL, and Assistant Professor Fingani A. Mphande-Nyasulu, Ph.D., delivered insightful talks on several important topics. They covered “Believe It or Not: Pseudoscience vs. Science,” emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between scientific facts and myths. They also addressed “Say ‘NO’ to Plagiarism,” highlighting the significance of academic integrity. Lastly, they discussed “Balancing Act: Student Life & Time Management,” providing valuable tips and strategies to help students manage their academic and personal lives effectively. These sessions aimed to equip our future doctors with the knowledge and skills necessary for their journey to becoming global medical professionals.
The MDKMITL program strives to cultivate physicians who can compete on a global level, possessing the professional skills that adhere to international benchmarks. It focuses on fostering 21st-century capabilities like innovation and critical thinking, which are vital for excelling in research and achieving excellence in the medical field.
Day 3 of Onsite Premed Camp 2024
On June 27, 2024, we marked the final day of our official onsite MDKMITL PreMed Camp 2024. To make this day special, we were honored to have Assistant Professor Chaichana Nimnuan, M.D., Ph.D., from the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, join us to meet and teach our new first-year medical students.
On behalf of MDKMITL, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Assistant Professor Chaichana Nimnuan, M.D., Ph.D., for conducting an insightful class on “Understanding Class Expectations and MDKMITL Teaching Style.” It was an enriching session for our new medical students.
Our MDKMITL PreMed Camp 2024 has been instrumental in helping students adjust to their new environment before the academic year begins.
