MDKMITL World Culture Academic Trip 2025 – Day 1

At MDKMITL, we honor our past as a foundation for future success. Each year, our first-year medical students participate in the World Culture course, which introduces them to the history of human civilization and how historical events have shaped today’s medical and healthcare landscape.

A highlight and differentiating factor of our international curriculum, brings the Y1 students on a 3-days/ 2-nights World Culture Academic Trip to various UNESCO World Heritage Sites around Thailand.

This year’s journey began with a visit to historical sites in U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province, including the U Thong National Museum. Here, students explored the history of the ancient city of U Thong, which was a major Buddhist center 1,600–1,800 years ago. This city played a crucial role in the early spread of Buddhism in Thailand, influenced by Indian culture, and later became the birthplace of Dvaravati civilization. Archaeological evidence suggests that U Thong was the first site in Thailand where Buddhism was established. We are grateful for all of the historians at the U Thong National Museum for taking such great care of our group.

The first day’s activities continued with visits to three remarkable temples: Wat Khao Di Salak, Wat Khao Phra, and Wat Khao Tham Thiam. Throughout the journey, our Deans and Instructors accompanied the students, offering valuable insights and guidance on how to apply this knowledge in their personal and professional lives. It was a truly enriching experience for everyone.
